Game 2 – Seneca Valley 8, North Catholic 0
Game two on the night was the Pittsburgh Steeler game of the week where Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth and Steeler Mascot Steely Mcbeem came to check out the flag football action at North Allegheny High School. In a defensive showdown, Seneca Valley beat North Catholic 8-0 in a hard-fought game that was defined by grit, determination, and a standout performance.
Lily Hudac was one of the stars of the day, recording an astounding five interceptions, effectively shutting down North Catholic’s offense and swinging the momentum in Seneca Valley’s favor time and time again. Her lockdown coverage and instinctive play were key in preserving the shutout and giving her team the edge they needed. Seneca Valley found the endzone late in the game when they put together a great drive with spectacular throws and catches. Wide Receiver Naomi Sauers made an unbelievable catch almost resembling the helmet catch made by David Tyree in Super Bowl 42. Then the drive capped off when Sperry found Sophia Wimer through a tight window in the end zone making the score 8-0. Then the Raider defense did their thing in not letting the Trojans get in the end zone, making them turn it over on downs late in the game while the Trojans were on the doorstep of scoring.
North Catholic fought hard, but every attempt to mount a comeback was thwarted by Hudac and the relentless Seneca Valley defense. The win marks an important statement for Seneca Valley as they continue their season with momentum and confidence.
The Raiders will play their next two games on Sunday April 27th at Cupples Stadium. At 12:00 they will play Brashear and at 1:00 play Obama. The Raiders will look to continue their winning ways.
